Keep your software up to date: Although it may be tempting to select "Remind me later" when we see an update alert, it's important to keep software up to date to prevent security risks and stay safe online. Automatic updates in security settings can make this process more convenient.
Use strong passwords: Passwords are the first line of defense against hackers, so it's important to use strong ones. A strong password should be at least 12 characters long and include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. It's also a good idea to use a different password for each account so that if one is compromised, your other accounts will still be safe.
Beware of Phishing scams: Phishing is a criminal activity where attackers use emails, texts, or phone calls to request personal information or infect devices. The messages may appear to be from trusted sources, but they are designed to deceive people into responding.
Use multi-factor authentication: Multi-factor authentication (MFA) enhances online security by verifying identities through a second method, such as a code sent to a phone or generated by an authenticator app. This added layer of protection makes it harder for unauthorized users to access accounts, even if passwords become compromised.
Back up your data: In the event of a cyberattack, it's important to have a backup of your data. This can be done using an external hard drive, cloud storage, or other methods. Regularly backing up your data can help you recover from a cyber attack more quickly and minimize the damage.
